Hello San Diego, This town is hoppin'! Lots of events to enjoy and partake in. Starting today, the city of La Mesa will hold its annual 3-day Oktoberfest. The El Cajon Oktoberfest is also happening all weekend long. Romeo and Juliet will be performed at Westminster Presbyterian Church throughout this weekend and next. Today (Friday), Mariachi Garibaldi will perform at the California Center for the Arts. At Paradise Point Resort & Spa, ACMA's 2nd annual Asian Pacific Cultural Showcase will take place. Gloria Trevi, "The Supreme Diva of Mexican Pop," will perform at Viejas Arena. Famous reggae artist Don Carlos will be giving a concert at the Belly Up. Godfather fans are sure to enjoy An Evening in Little Italy with Gianni Russo. Saturday and Sunday (as well as all of next weekend), Saturday, the House of Philippines will present their annual Lawn Program which they are calling A Taste of the Philippines. Julian Town Hall will be the site of the Saint Elizabeth of Hungary’s 25th Oktoberfest. Carlsbad will hold its 40th annual Oktoberfest. At the EC Gallery in Solana Beach, there will be an Exhibition of International Street Art. There will be a Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration at the Chula Vista Center. At St. George - Serbian Orthodox Church, the annual San Diego Serbian Fest will be held. In the late afternoon, Coco will be shown atop the Manchester Hyatt. An Inaugural Filipino American History Gala will be held at University of San Diego. At SDSU's Open Air Theatre, Hawaiian reggae pop group Kolohe Kai will play. Italian singer/songwriter Zucchero will perform at the Balboa Theatre. There will be a Deepotsav - Sewa Dance Fundraiser at the Organ Pavilion in Balboa Park. And, the classic Italian horror film set in Germany (oh my!) Suspiria will have a late-night screening at the Digital Gym. Sunday, San Diego Watercolor Society's 42nd International Exhibition Opening will take place. The exhibition will run through to the end of October. In Chula Vista, the Filipinos of South Bay Exhibit will have its Grand Opening. The exhibit will continue until the end of the year. At the Encinitas Library, Patrick Berrogain's Hot Club Combo will perform music in the style of the late great Django Reinhardt. Bread and Salt will celebrate the wide range Mexican of alcoholic refreshments at their Mexico in a Bottle event. Spanish singer and songwriter Rosalía will perform at the SDSU Open Air Theatre. Five-time Latin GRAMMY® winner Camilo will perform at Pechanga Arena. Monday, a San Diego Filipino Film Festival Preview Night will take place at the Mingei. At Cal State San Marcos, the documentary Garden of Eden will be shown. Aida Cuevas & Mariachi Juvenil Tecalitlán will perform at the Rady Shell. Tuesday, Warwick's will host Laurie Lico Albanese as she discusses her new book, Hester, in conversation with Sarah Penner. There will be a Macbeth Reading at the Coronado Library. At the Athenaeum Music & Arts Library, a series of talks about Sergei Diaghilev will kick off. Next Wednesday, there will be a book signing at the Mysterious Galaxy Book Store with Chloe Gong who will talk about her historical fantasy novel Foul Lady Fortune. Next Thursday, at UCSD AfroRithms from the Future: A Participatory Workshop will take place. The film Surviving Sex Trafficking will be shown and discussed at the Carlsbad City Library. At San Diego State, there will be a One Book, One San Diego Author Event with Brit Bennett who will discuss her book The Vanishing Half. At UCSD, the prize-winning artist Cannupa Hanska Luger will give a talk on his work. The Polish black metal band Batushka will perform at Brick by Brick. Next Friday and Saturday, the Ocean Beach Oktoberfest will take place. Next Friday, Alliant International University will honor National Hispanic Heritage Month with a talk by Dr. Oliva M. Espín who will talk about her memoir about growing up in Cuba. At the San Diego French American School, the film Eugénie Grandet will be shown. At the Tràm Chim Restaurant, there will be a Fundraising Concert and Gala to help fund next year's Vietnamese Tết Festival. The First Unitarian Universalist Church will host the La Chimi Flamenco Show featuring the wonderfully talented Lakshmi Basile. The Argentinian duo Fémina will perform at UCSD. Next Saturday, there will be a Cultura Stock Celebration at "Basic". Sugar Skull: A Dia de Muertos Musical Adventure will take place that the Poway Center for the Performing Arts. San Diego Sake Festival 2022 will take place in Ruocco Park down by the harbor. The St. George - Serbian Orthodox Church San Diego will hold their annual Serbian Festival in Bay Park. The Indian Fine Arts Association will host an Indian Violin Concert featuring the Mysore Brothers at Qualcomm Auditorium. At the San Diego Museum of Art, the Persian Cultural Center will present their Mehregan Fall Fête with Afra Ensemble. Next Sunday, a Sukkot Harvest Festival will take place at the Coastal Roots Farm. The House of Spain Lawn Program will hold their annual Lawn Program at the International Cottages. Can't wait to feast on their paella again! At Qualcomm Auditorium, there will be a Carnatic Vocal Concert featuring Gayathri Venkataraghavan. The Ibibio Sound Machine will be rockin' the Music Box.
